More Local Power
Ka ikehu no kākou, na kākou
Energy by us, for us
Build Solar Energy Resiliency for your ʻOhana
Eō! With the rising cost of bills in Hawaiʻi, it’s time for our families to lessen their dependence on expensive imported fuels and generate our own power from our island sun. We invite Wai‘anae and Ko‘olauloa families to join us in lowering their household bills and step into greater ea. Locally sited, small scale, community connected, renewable energy is needed now more than ever. We embrace the elements of aloha ‘āina to own, control and derive economic benefit from our own energy resources.
Solarize808 is a campaign for affordable, accessible, and locally generated rooftop and community solar led by Koʻolauloa and Waiʻanae community organization, but is open to all O’ahu residents! We are composed of a network of energy experts and trustworthy community leaders, intent on helping households lower their energy costs/expenses thrugh education campaigns and by creating a one-stop-shop with up-to-date, accurate and transparent information for everything solar.
Solarize808 is led by trusted community leaders like Kapua Keliikoa-Kamai of the Wai‘anae Sustainability Co-op, Sharlette Poe of L.E.I Foundation in the Wai‘anae Moku, Dotty Kelly-Paddock of Hui o Hau‘ula, and CNHA (Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement). Together, in collaboration with Shake Energy Collaborative, Hawaii State Energy Office, Hawaii Green Infrastructure Authority, City Office of Climate Change, Sustainability, and Resilience, Hawaiian Electric, and Hawaii Energy, who collectively bring unprecedented technical and financing support, Solarize808 aims to uplift our communities and provide novel opportunities for affordable energy solutions. These solutions will add to a solid foundation for ‘ohana to create generational wealth, contribute to ‘aina momona and waiwai, and increase our resiliency independently and as a lāhui.
We serve as liaisons to bring families together with pono solar contractors to see our communities and our companies gain economic benefits from our locally generated energy sources.
