Our Purpose
The Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement is partnering with the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands to provide rental assistance for families impacted by the pandemic.

Funds will go directly to vendors whom you have an obligation with.
Eligible Expenses
- Rent (maximum of 12 months)
- Back rent from March 13, 2020 to current
- Utilities (electric, gas, water/sewer, trash)
- Back payment on utilities going back to March 13, 2020
Who Can Qualify
Eligibility Requirements
- Be on the DHHL Applicant Waiting List OR an Undivided Interest Lessee in the State of Hawaiʻi
- Rent housing in the State of Hawaiʻi
- Be 18 years or older
- Prove one or more members of household has qualified for unemployment benefits or experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs, or other financial hardship due to COVID-19
- Demonstrate imminent risk of homelessness or housing instability, unsafe or unhealthy living conditions, or any other evidence of such risk
- Meet income qualification—less than 80% Area Median Income (AMI). Amount differs by county. See the chart below. Priority will be given to those under 50% AMI.

- Photo ID & Proof of Residency (one of the following):
- Valid Hawaiʻi State ID,
- Hawaiʻi Driver License
- U.S. Passport showing residency
- Proof of Hardship (all that are applicable):
- Eviction Notice
- Past due bills
- Unemployment (UI) Document
- Reduction in income or increase in living expenses
- Income Statement:
- Documentation that shows income is at or below 80% AMI from everyone in the household
- 2022 Tax Documents (i.e., 1040, W2, 1099), OR
- 2 Months most recent income verifying documents
- example: paystubs, UI statements, public benefit statements, other income
- Documentation that shows income is at or below 80% AMI from everyone in the household

- All approved applications will be referred to DHHL for individualized Housing Counseling
