The Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement announces a new Native Hawaiian leadership program. Today, as we celebrate Queen Liliʻuokalani’s birthday and her legacy of leadership, we are excited to announce the Empowering ʻŌiwi Leadership Award (E OLA).

CNHA in partnership with Kamehameha Schools, is seeking to elevate and support the development of our emerging ʻōiwi leaders through E OLA. This unique recognition will be given to Native Hawaiians who exemplify leadership qualities and are engaged in their community. The recipient of this recognition will also be given a monetary award to help elevate their work.

“As CNHA celebrates its 20th birthday, we reflect on the many leaders that have come through our organization” said CNHA President and CEO Kūhiō Lewis. “E OLA is the next step for us to now recognize leaders throughout Hawai’i and we are excited at the opportunity to see the many faces representing their communities throughout our homeland.”

The program will consist of an online look-book, a multi-media campaign, and a section of the CNHA Annual Native Hawaiian Convention that profiles the recipient’s leadership role in the community.
