from a vision of supporting and enhancing the capacity of Native

believes in the power and ingenuity of community and by proving a range
of services and resources, we support community building and
promote policy initiatives for Native communities.

Returning Money to Hawaiian
Families - EITC Campaign
During the months of January
through April
2009, CNHA will
be operating seven Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites to help
families file their income taxes for FREE
and help families file for
thousands
of dollars in Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC) and Child Tax
Credits.
Eligible families could
receive up to $4,824 in tax
credits provided by the
Federal government as early as seven days after filing their
taxes.
In 2007, $46 Million was
left unclaimed
within the State.
Please help us by sharing
information about free tax
preparation services and the potential of receiving thousands of
dollars in tax
credits available to working families.
Additionally,
we need volunteers that can assist families in filing for these tax
credits. All
volunteers will receive
training, certification, stipends, and feelings of accomplishment from
helping
others.

Education through
Cultural and Historical Project
CNHA is partnering
with the
Bishop Museum to
implement the Education
through Cultural and Historical
Organizations (ECHO) project. The
ECHO mission authorizes
innovative, culturally based educational programs, cultural exchanges,
and internship & apprenticeship programs for Native and
non-Native communities, as well as cultural institutions in Alaska,
Hawai`i, Massachusetts, and Mississippi. These four regions are linked
by shared historical experiences and traditions arising from profound
changes to cultural and natural environments. To learn more about the
ECHO project, click
